The Sony SRW-5500 studio recorder offers maximum flexibility in playback for onne and dubbing applicatons. It records 1920 x 1080, 10-bit HD signals using MPEG-4 Studio Profile with visually loss-less compression. Video data rate is 440 Mbps, and 880 Mbps is also possible. Frame rates 1080, 23.98/24/25/29.97/30PsF, 50/59.94/60i and 720 50/59.94P are supported. Twelve channels of 24-bit discrete uncompressed audio can be recorded.

The unit includes the following option boards:

– HKSR-5001: Format converter, allowing 2-3 pull down and 1080i or 1080PsF to 720P conversion or vice versa. Color space conversion between 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 is possible as well.

– HKSR-5002: Enables Digibeta playback with upconversion output. (HDCAM playback is built in.)

– HKSR-5003: Enables full-bandwidth 4:4:4 SQ recording.

Note: This unit records HDCAM and HDCAM-SR. It will play back HDCAM-SR, HDCAM and Digibeta.
